Vitamin C helps the body absorb iron and heal wounds, as well as enhances the work of enzymes. It is involved in the synthesis of collagen, which strengthens blood vessels, joints and bones, and in redox reactions. It should be taken with caution in people who have problems with stomach acidity. High doses of vitamin C can cause discomfort and pain in the epigastrium.
